Varsity Softball · Panthers Beat Defending State Champs (8/8/19)


        The Jackson County Panthers Softball team took on defending state champs, the Franklin County Lions, this past Thursday for an action packed game against two powerhouses in AAA. The Panthers gave up two runs in the top of the 1st inning after several hits by the Lions. The game remained tied until the 3rd inning when the Panthers came up to bat. The Panthers were quick to get runners on base with a hit by Abigail Allen and then a stolen base on the next pitch to move her to second. The Lions then walked Sara Beth Allen allowing Whitney Hulsey to tie it with a line drive to right center. Abby Harrell hit a triple scoring two runs putting the Panthers on top 4-2. The Lions did not give up and scored one run in the top of the 7th inning. Sara Beth Allen made quick work of their batters after that and ended the game 4-3. At the end of the Game Sara Beth Allen had 12 strikeouts. 

        Today, the Jackson County Panthers play at East Jackson in another region game. The game starts at 5:30 so be sure to make the trip and watch the Panthers take on the Eagles.
