Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Panthers fall short in Sweet Sixteen Game

Last night, the Lady Panthers faced GAC in the Sweet Sixteen match. The Lady Panthers fought long and hard to come out on top, but fell short 4-0. Throughout the game, there were lots of amazing plays made by everyone on the team, including great saves by freshman goalie, Avery Wortel. For seniors, Melissa Ventura, Abbie Venable, Kaitlyn English, and Tessa Rodriguez, this was their last game in a Panthers jersey.

Within the last few minutes of the game, multiple types of emotions were going through these girls’ minds; sadness, anticipation, anger. But for senior, Kaitlyn English, she said,”We didn’t want to lose, but it hit me hard because I wasn’t going to play college soccer. Throughout the game, I had determination with slight fear cause it was getting towards the end of an era. Everything in me wanted that game last night to be ours.”

When a team does so good throughout the season, it’s hard to let it end. For example, the Lady panthers went (16-3) in the season, which was very successful and almost perfect. Reflecting from the past season, Kaitlyn English stated, “Over the past 4 years I feel like we’ve progressed each year in a different way, which makes us better each season. This year, in particular, I feel like we had a really good and strong group. I’m glad I could do it with them and experience all this with such a good team.” However, you have to get ready for the season to come, in order to be better in the future. I don’t know about you, but I’m very anxious to see what the Lady Panthers Soccer team is gonna do next year.
