On Wednesday, April 24th the Panthers participated in their region track meet. The top two competitors for each event were entered to compete, and if an athlete or a relay team placed top eight, then they qualified to compete on Friday.
For the boys, Jonathan Fountain in the shot put threw for 48 feet, which is a personal record and enough to earn him 2nd in region. Senior Dawson Miller ran a 4:30 mile, which is a school record, congratulations Dawson! Sophomore Julian Hibbert qualified in the 400 with 7th place and James Elder got second place in the 110m hurdles. Seth Farmer and Ethan Bowen both qualified in the 100m and the 300m hurdles respectively.
For the Girls, Madison Miller got first place in the 400m and also qualified in the 200m earning 3rd place. Senior Jaycie Ponce got qualified in both the 800m and the 400m, getting 2nd and 5th respectively. Junior Carson Anderson also qualified in the 300m hurdles, getting 8th.
All qualifiers will compete on Friday the 26th, and if they place top 4 they go on to compete in sectionals, which is on May 4th.
